Variance in Diesel Prices throughout the year

Posted by romeethredge on March 5, 2013

Each month’s price index gives the average price in that month as a percentage of the year’s average price. For example, according to the chart the January price index is 93. This means the price in January is typically 93 percent of the average price of diesel for the year. This chart tells farmers that the lowest prices for diesel typically come in January through March and June through July of the year and the highest prices come during April through May and August through December.

Thanks to Amanda Smith, UGA Extension Ag Economist, for this info.
