Corn Going into the Ground

Posted by romeethredge on March 8, 2013

Corn planting is going on in a big way in Seminole County. Several hundred acres have been planted this week. Some folks are planning on getting started next week . Some watering is going on that planted the first of the week. It will help get good even emergence that is important for top yields.

A little corn was planted a couple of weeks ago, before a lot of rain and cool weather and it is struggling. The soil was packed due to the rainstorms and it cooled off considerably and you can see below that it’s coming up slowly and having some issues.

Most fields that have been planted a few days need a little water. Our goal is to get even emergence.
