Corn Harvest – Slow

Corn Harvest has been slow and drawn out. The moisture is coming down to the 18 to 19 percent level in many fields. The yields are pretty good. Some of the later planted corn had rainy cloudy weather during pollination and grain set and is not doing as well.  Many fields look like a patchwork quilt due to the wet areas being avoided until they dry out.

There is still a lot of corn in the fields. Normally at this time of year we are close to being finished. We need to get this corn out before we get more falling and more damage due to ear rots and insects.
