Slippery Corn Harvest

Posted by romeethredge on September 13, 2013

Pilot Wade Spooner took these photos of corn fields with areas too wet to harvest. Crop duster Patch Price told me last week that he’s seen water this year in places he has never seen it before and he has been flying over our area for more than 50 years, that’s over half a century. We’ve had a lot of stuck equipment this time.

Mark Burkett got tired of waiting on the ground to dry out to get their corn out and they now have Tracks on one of their combines as seen below. It’s like a tank going through the wet spots in the field. I rode in it and it maneuvers well and does a good job. Lots of ground contact with less soil compaction.  Here’s Mark and Jeff Croom and Colby Smith(with sunglasses), showing me the new tracks.

Here’s a short video of it going through the field.
