Question of the Week – Okame Flowering Cherry

Posted by romeethredge on February 18, 2014

Last week I had a photo of a tree that was blooming now in Seminole County and it’s the Okame Flowering Cherry. The earliest of the cherries to bloom here. It reminds me a lot of Red bud, which is a native, but they bloom a little later and the bloom on them is different, more southern pea-like.

Here a couple more photos of it.

This week’s question is the following. I had no correct answers last week so I have an easier one this week. What is this flowering tree that is in full bloom this week in south Georgia?
