Cotton Planting

Posted by romeethredge on May 2, 2014

There was some cotton planted Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  And then the bottom dropped out and it’s been raining ever since. Here’s a couple of  photos I took on last Saturday April 26th. Cotton was being planted in a somewhat sandy field in southern Seminole county. They were spraying Warrant and Reflex herbicides behind the presswheel. They were putting the seed 2 every 11 inches in the hill drop fashion.

The soils were pretty warm and with the good moisture they came up well, with some washing, in areas.

Continued rains kept the plants emerging at least. This is the cotton planted on Friday and early Saturday.
