Peanut Acreage Up in 2015

Georgia Plants Highest Peanut Acreage Since 1991

The NASS USDA Acreage Report was released on June 30 giving the first planted acreage estimates based on surveys.   Planted acres of peanuts in Georgia were pegged at 800,000 acres, up 200,000 acres over last year for an increase of 33.3%.   The US peanut planted acres is estimated as 1.6 million acres.   This is an increase of 18% from 2014 and the highest since 2012 figure of 1.638 million acres.   Growers   have until July 15 to certify planted acres with FSA.   The first release of FSA reported acreage should come in mid-August.
