VBC

Posted by romeethredge on August 7, 2015

VBC or Velvetbean caterpillars are eating on our peanut foliage now.

FullSizeRender (3)-001They often appear late in the season like this. Fortunately we have good big vines in most fields so the can stand a good many foliage feeders but some fields are needing treatment. Loopers are abundant as well.  Some folks say the 2 caterpillars look alike but VBC have 4 sets of legs so they don’t loop, and the legs at the very tail point almost straight out. Also VBC go crazy when you mess with them. Here’s a video below we took of this.
